John Head grew up in Jackson, Georgia. He has been a journalist for more than twenty years and has worked for the Detroit Free Press, USA Today, and both the Atlanta Journal and the Atlanta Constitution. He also served as press secretary for Atlanta mayor Maynard Jackson. Currently he is a columnist and member of the editorial board of the Atlanta Constitution.
